Project Show Case

AFR - THE WORLD ISLANDS
DUBAI, U.A.E
One of our Marine Projects was to remove and replace SHED armour units protecting the man-made island where the iconic Burj Al Arab hotel stands. Rather than bringing the 1,500 precast concrete SHED armour units to shore and disposing to landfill, PLC repurposed them into an artificial fish reef outside the boundary of The World Islands, Dubai, UAE. The SHED units were removed one by one from Burj Al Arab shore protection and loaded onto barges via crane; the barges then sailed to proposed location. The SHED armour units were then placed individually in 5 locations by divers in 2 layers utilising crane barge.
LA MER PROJECT
DUBAI, U.A.E
As part of the La Mer Project which was the creation of 3 large scale peninsula via land reclamation off the coast of Jumeirah, Dubai, UAE, demolition of existing concrete armour units (Stabits) was required prior to the remodelling of the Dubai Coastline. Rather than bringing the precast concrete Stabit armour units to shore and disposing to landfill, PLC repurposed the Stabits into an artificial fish reef outside the boundary of the new Project on the South Peninsula. The Stabits were removed individually from the shore protection and loaded onto barges via crane; the barges then sailed to proposed location. The Stabit armour units were then placed individually in 1 location by divers in 3 layers utilising crane barge.
